LTT: Recognition of signal drops in  µsec range

The cabling of vehicles has to survive lots of stress during the live time. Big temperature changes and lots of vibrations permanent burden components like cable, contacts and switches. To ensure that such components survive, they will be tested on shakers and temperature chambers. Even a short connection drop needs to be registered for sure during such test.

LTT Tasler develops a new software module “Cable Tree Test”, which enhance the application range of LTT184 Transient Recorder for stand-alone Cable-Tree test stand at automotive supplier.

The software setup defines the signal drop with length (n,µ, m sec) and level (V). Every smallest event will be registered. In case the signal interrupt is longer or same as defined tolerance, a recording of the effected channel will be done. The software will show up with an alert, to announce those events. The setup includes following settings:

  • Time precision: up to 50ns (= Sample rate up to 20MHz per channel!)
  • Pre-Trigger and Post-Trigger time
  • Length of signal drop to be count as error.
  • Trigger Level to pass over or drop below.
  • Number of channels: 1–16 (More by synchronization of several devices.)

Independent monitoring of every channel. A too long spike will be logged channel independent. The data acquisition system registers and records every event in a 24h/7day mode, or interrupts the measurement by a first non-tolerant spike.

Every recorded event is listed on the screen with channel number and spike length. The wave form of such spike can be shown by an easy double-click on one event of the list.
